BROKEN ORCHESTRA / MICHAEL BARKER
Outsider Editorial is delighted to announce “Broken Orchestra” edited by Michael Barker will be screening as part of the Documentary Shorts program at Sundance Film Festival next year! Teaming up with director Charlie Tyrell once again to tell the story of ‘The Symphony for a Broken Orchestra,’ an initiative from the Philadelphia public school system that collected over 1500 broken instruments, had them repaired and recirculated to the District School Board.
This was after 400 local musicians came together for one night and performed an incredible piece of music composed by David Lang. Symphony for a Broken Orchestra was originally created and commissioned by Temple Contemporary at Temple University, USA. Original support for Symphony for a Broken Orchestra was provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, Philadelphia.
